“Excellent Coaches”

Reviewed 20 April 2015

'My wife and I have tried to learn on two continents with at least two instructors and it never clicked. Manuel and his fellow coaches are experts that know how to break down the fundamentals into bite size chunks that you can handle. Performance based individual instruction that works. Playa Grande was the perfect place to learn, can't recall a moment that there were more than 5 surfers in the water (most of the time it was just us and the instructors). If you're serious about learning classes with Young Vision are well worth the investment.'

MANUEL CESPEDES

LEAH MANSELL

From the day he was born, Manuel has been welcoming visitors to this paradise he knows so well.  His parents were among the original inhabitants of what is now the Romelia Nature Reserve.  Having been literally born on the beach at Playa Grande, Manuel is truly at home in the waves.  He welcomes visitors to his home each and every day, introducing them to his passion of surfing and helping them to make the most of their experience here in the jungle.

Manuel is proud to have started his own company, Young Vision Surf School.  His dream is to teach surfing to those adventurous enough to try, and to inspire local kids with the possibilities of a bright future in competitive surfing.  Manuel is an International Surfing Association (ISA) certified level 2 surf coach and beach rescue lifeguard.  He is currently studying Tourism with INA, and is certified in CPR.  He has over 15 years of teaching experience, and loves to bring the sport of surfing to people of any age.

Get to know the real Costa Rica by introducing yourself to this lifelong resident, better yet, take a surf lesson in Montezuma or in Santa Teresa.  You won't be disappointed!

Leah is a permanent resident of Costa Rica, originally from Canada. She has spent the past 12 years living and working in the Montezuma and Santa Teresa area. She helps keep the Young Vision Team on track with planning, organizing, administration and publicity.

Surfing was the reason she came to Costa Rica all those years ago, so she is thrilled to be able to work in the industry, bringing the surf experience to travelers from all over the world.
